Mirror Images Test
25 original figure-based practice questions with answers and explanations — built for ISSB screening and Pakistan Army, PAF and Pak Navy initial test preparation.
What Is a Mirror Images Test?
In a mirror images test, you are shown a figure and must choose how it would look in a mirror placed upright beside it. The rule is simple but strict: left and right swap places, while top and bottom stay exactly where they are. A dot on the left of the figure appears on the right in its mirror image, and anything pointing left points right instead — yet the figure is never turned upside down. This mirror images test copies the style used in ISSB screening and in the Pakistan Army, PAF and Pak Navy initial tests, where mirror questions check careful observation under time pressure, a habit that matters when reading maps, signs and instruments in service.
In the real initial test, each question allows only a few seconds, and the wrong options are built from the same figure — turned, flipped top-to-bottom, or with one detail quietly moved — so careless candidates fall for them. The safe method is to label the figure’s left and right features before looking at the options: “pole on the left, flag at the top” becomes “pole on the right, flag still at the top”. Work through all 25 questions below, then check the answer key to see each mirror image explained.

Answer Key with Explanations
| Q | Answer | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | C | The pole moves from the left to the right, and the pennant still sits at the top pointing the other way; top and bottom do not change. |
| 2 | A | The upright bar moves to the right side and the foot points left, still at the bottom. |
| 3 | B | Left and right swap, so an arrow pointing north-east points north-west in the mirror; it still points upwards. |
| 4 | D | The triangle itself is symmetrical, but the dot swaps from the bottom-left to the bottom-right. |
| 5 | B | The filled corner swaps from top-left to top-right; it stays at the top. |
| 6 | C | The house outline is symmetrical, but the door swaps from the left side to the right side. |
| 7 | A | The chevron points left instead of right, and the dot stays at the top, moving to above the new tip. |
| 8 | D | The shaded half swaps from the right side of the circle to the left side. |
| 9 | B | The spine of the F moves to the right and the arms point left; the long arm stays at the top. |
| 10 | C | The wedge swaps from the north-east quarter to the north-west quarter; it stays in the top half. |
| 11 | A | The T is symmetrical, but the dot swaps from the left end of the bar to the right end. |
| 12 | B | The dot swaps from the top-right to the top-left, staying near the top of the pentagon. |
| 13 | D | The kite is symmetrical in outline; the dot swaps from the right side to the left side at the same height. |
| 14 | C | The pole moves to the right and the notched pennant points left, still at the top of the pole. |
| 15 | A | The diagonal runs from top-right to bottom-left instead, and the dot swaps to the top-left area; it stays near the top. |
| 16 | B | The flat side and the curve swap places: the curve faces left and the flat edge sits on the right. |
| 17 | D | The bowl of the P moves to the top-left and the spine to the right; the bowl stays at the top. |
| 18 | C | The pole swaps from the right to the left, and the pennant points right again while staying at the top. |
| 19 | A | Both dots swap sides: the big dot goes to the top-right and the small dot to the bottom-left; neither changes height. |
| 20 | B | The steps climb from right to left instead of left to right, starting from the same floor level. |
| 21 | D | The arrow still points downwards, but swaps from south-west to south-east. |
| 22 | C | The gold bar swaps from the left inner edge to the right inner edge, running top to bottom as before. |
| 23 | A | The lens moves to the top-right and the handle angles down to the left; the lens stays at the top. |
| 24 | B | The dot swaps from the right point of the diamond to the left point, at the same height. |
| 25 | C | The chimney swaps from the right slope of the roof to the left slope; the house stays upright. |
