Cubes & Dice Test

25 original figure-based practice questions with answers and explanations — built for ISSB screening and Pakistan Army, PAF and Pak Navy initial test preparation.

What Is a Cubes and Dice Test?

A cubes and dice test is built around one simple object: a cube with something different on each of its six faces — numbers, letters, symbols or colours. The question may show the cube opened out flat as a net, and ask which face lies opposite a given face when it is folded up. Or it may show two views of the same dice and ask you to work out which face you cannot see. You never need the actual cube in your hand: everything follows from one rule, that opposite faces are fixed pairs and can never sit next to each other.

Cubes and dice questions are regulars in ISSB screening and in the initial tests of the Pakistan Army, the Pakistan Air Force and the Pak Navy, because they measure three-dimensional thinking — picturing a flat net folding into a solid — which matters for engineering, aviation and technical work. Candidates for PMA Long Course, PAF airman and technical entries, and Pak Navy sailor and officer entries all meet this type. In the real Army initial test the questions move quickly, so learn the opposite-face rules by heart and let the elimination do the work for you.

Tip 1: In a cross-shaped net, the faces two squares apart in a straight line are opposite each other.
Tip 2: Opposite faces never appear together in one cube view — use this to eliminate options fast.
Tip 3: If two dice views share one face, list the four faces seen around it; the label never shown is opposite it.
Tip 4: Colours and symbols follow exactly the same rules as numbers — treat every face as a label.

4CA and D sit at opposite ends of the row in the net, so they are opposite faces.
5BA, B and C are mutual neighbours; the other cubes each join an opposite pair.
6AB, C, D and E all appear beside A, leaving F as the face opposite A.
7CThe circle and diamond are two apart in the column of the net, so they are opposite.
8CStar, circle and triangle all touch in the net and can meet at one corner.
9BCircle, triangle, square and diamond appear around the star, so the cross is opposite it.
10BRed and gold sit at opposite ends of the row in the net, so they are opposite.
